Email Decisions – Approved all-member email for SC elections.

Spring Term Schedule Update – We’re going to try alternating our remaining meetings this term between this time (which no longer works for Béatrice) and Wednesdays at 8:15 AM.

  • Thursday, May 8, 10 AM
  • Wednesday, May 14, 8:15 AM
  • Thursday, May 22, 10 AM
  • Wednesday, May 28, 8:15 AM
  • Thursday, June 5, 10 AM
  • Wednesday, June 11, 8:15 AM

Strategic Retreat – We need to schedule this! We’re looking at June 20-22 or June 27-29. For those of us in the room, the first weekend will work fine. Ashley will check with the remaining officers-elect so we can book a house ASAP.

Solidarity Fair – It’s in Central Park this Saturday, 12 – 5. CGE is going to contribute some supplies and food (yumm bowls like we made for the GMM). Shannon and Ashley have made plans for shopping and prep, and Mindy will help with transportation. Everyone should come to staff the table and “be vibrant”!

Steward Council Elections – These have been opened! There were a couple of little mess-ups that are basically fixed now. One of the nominees for Math didn’t get recorded on the ballot, so we’re going to stop the Math election, add the name, and restart it. [Ashley has now restarted it.] Elections close tomorrow night.

Steward Council Meeting – Tuesday, May 13. Shannon won’t be here, so Gloria and Lizz will do food. Current plan is taco bar. Since it will be the first meeting for a lot of the newly elected stewards, we’ll plan to spend time on intro, as well as an update on bargaining, HIAC, and arbitration and inviting them to the Strategic Retreat.

GMM Debrief – Sneha says “It was amazing!” We had pretty decent turnout. We had one contested election (Secretary-Treasurer) that brought in a “surprise” candidate, Drew Hatlen, who won. Everyone liked having the small-group discussion time.

Great Cover-Up – This year’s event will be on both Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10. We think the CGE bands will be playing on Saturday, so we’ll push for turnout more strongly for that night. Shannon will help organize carpools.

Social Stuff – Next Social Hour: Next Monday, May 5. Mindy is the host. Trivia Night: Next Tuesday, May 6, 7 PM. Shannon has been in communication with the people who will host. Movie Night: Wednesday, May 14, 7 PM. Gloria will be the CGE person there to meet people. Popcorn: Shannon is going to look for that popcorn maker we talked about in hopes of having it for Trivia Night.

Ed Ray Meeting Agenda – We need to set the agenda and set a date. Topics include: (1) updating email addresses in the online directory (from “orst” to “oregonstate”); (2) fixing the way OSU categorizes grad employees who teach classes so that they get credit for being instructors; (3) moving toward having gender-neutral bathrooms in all campus buildings.

Candidate Interviews Debrief – There were about 5 CGEers there as well as some folks from AFT-OR. It was not particularly exciting but it was good to see the process by which AFT-OR decides to endorse candidates.

Women In Policy Event – Sneha’s group secured a speaker for their gender equity event, the director of a group called “Family Forward Oregon.” They’ll be talking about the gender pay-gap and making it go away. It will be on May 14 at 5 PM. This is relevant to our labor union interests. CGE will be an official co-sponsor and help with printing and publicity.

Meeting adjourned at 11:12 AM
